2. Hosting (Hetzner, Germany) & server log files

This website is hosted on a server in Germany (Hetzner).

When you access this website, the server processes data that your browser transmits automatically (“server log files”), in particular:

  • IP address

  • date and time of access

  • requested URL / file

  • referrer URL

  • browser type/version

  • operating system

  • status codes and transferred data volume

Purposes: ensuring website operation, IT security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests).
Retention: server logs are stored for a limited period according to the hosting/server configuration (standard log retention).
Recipients: Hetzner (as hosting provider / processor).

3. Download statistics

When you download a study, I record download events for statistical purposes. The stored download event contains:

  • timestamp (time of download) and

  • locale/region information derived from your browser language settings (e.g., Accept-Language / locale).

No IP address and no user agent are stored in these download statistics. The statistics are not used for advertising and not used to track you across websites.

Purpose: measuring demand and improving the offered studies/downloads.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in operating and improving the service).
Retention: download statistic events are stored until they are no longer required for statistical evaluation and service improvement, and are then deleted or aggregated. (You may define a fixed period later, e.g., 12–24 months.)

4. File delivery (proxy) via GitHub infrastructure

The downloadable files (e.g., compiled studies/JAR files and source code bundles) are stored on GitHub infrastructure. When you request a download, the file is fetched server-to-server by my website backend (proxy) and then delivered to you from my server. As a rule, you do not access GitHub directly when downloading a file.

In the process, GitHub may receive technical connection data from my server (e.g., IP address of the server, time of access, requested file).

Purpose: reliable provision of download files and technical operation.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).
Recipients: GitHub, Inc. (infrastructure provider).
Data transfers to third countries: Depending on GitHub’s processing, data may be processed in the USA. Transfers take place only under the requirements of Art. 44 et seq. GDPR (e.g., adequacy decision and/or Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable).

5. Contact

If you contact me (e.g., by email), I process the data you provide (email address, message content) to respond.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual/contractual communication) and/or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding).
Retention: as long as necessary to process the request and comply with legal obligations.

6. Cookies / analytics / tracking

This website does not use third‑party analytics or marketing tracking technologies.
Download counting is limited to basic statistics as described above.

7. Your rights

You have the right to request access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21).

8. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).

9. Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect legal or technical changes. The current version is published on this page.
